In exactly one month, I touch down in San Antonio for my very first RWA National Conference. I am thrilled to be able to attend. However, I'm not sure what to expect, so to prepare myself, I am going to spend the next thirty days being as socially awkward with people as possible. That way, I get all of that awkwardness out of my system before I have to talk to editors, agents, and other authors.
I have two appointments lined up to pitch my unpublished manuscript, part of a trilogy that is 2/3 done. I love my story but, like me, it is an oddball (it's about a sexy sea urchin diver, for godsakes). Good news about this story, though? It's a finalist in two (count 'em, one-two) 2014 RWA chapter contests, the CIMRWA Abalone Awards and the Valley Forge Romance Writers Sheila Contest. I'm reviewing the judges' feedback from the Sheila Contest now and cleaning up my entry for the final round.
So I guess in light of this you could say I've got one goal right now. It's preparing myself for my pitches so that I look like this...
Okay. Lots more work to do. Wish me luck!
